I’ll have more to say about this later, but this poster serves as fair warning for the danger this country currently faces from Obama and his socialist backers and enablers.  They must be defeated NOW!

She makes a wiseass comment about how policemen get shot in the line of duty carrying guns every day.  Mr. Muller proceeds to explain to her that despite an outstanding local police force, he lives out in the country where police response time would be at least 15 minutes, so the most effective 911 call he could make if faced with the situation of the Florida man is to “chamber a round”.  Amen, Mr. Muller. 

By the way, the company slogan is God, guns, guts and American pickup trucks.  Love it!

If the Enquirer weren’t a hundred percent confident that Edwards was at the hotel with Rielle, I doubt they’d be going to the law.

Is this news? The mainstream media seems to think not. They hide behind professionalism, whatever that means, when the extent of their bias has been documented everywhere. It’s beyond comic.

UPDATE: Some cheap psychoanalysis. I would guess that Edwards, like many cheaters, wanted to be caught. After all, it is hard to conceive he would be that dumb as to conduct a tryst in this modern/post-Bill Clinton era in, of all places, the Beverly Hilton. The Hilton — where such events as the Pre-Oscar luncheon and Arnold Schwarzenegger’s recent victory celebration are held — would be among the last places you would choose. It’s often a virtual den of paparazzi with staff and others always standing by to tip the gossip press on the latest celeb sighting. There are thousands of places in Southern California more low key for such a meeting. If Edwards is indeed that dumb, we are certainly lucky he never became President. Among those who should be scratching their heads at this moment are his supporters.

As an amateur historian, I am given to musing about the flow and processing of information. People make mental models of the past, but those models are usually highly skewed. As both Napoleon and George Orwell are alleged to have observed, it is the winners who write history. Beyond that, most historians rely primarily on written sources, which further skews our perspective to the prejudices of a given time’s literati, as well as limiting our perspective by that self-same “intelligentsia’s” intellectual shortcomings. The uptake curve of any new trend is difficult to perceive at its inception. Important events often show up as important only well after the fact. Of all the news stories of today, how many human beings can predict what story will actually shape the world of 50 years from now? Even experts fail at this. And often, the true import of events is obscured until the generation who experienced those events has passed away, along with their distorted perceptions.

From that intro to this essential point, the author points out numerous examples of how the MSM consistently fails to intelligently inform the public.

If the media were properly doing their jobs, the OODA loop would be on the lips of anyone who has anything to say in public about the War on Terror in general, and the War in Iraq in particular. Instead even many people who think of themselves as educated (and perhaps an even greater fraction of those people who consider themselves intellectuals) have no idea who John Boyd was, or why he is an important figure. In my opinion no one who has not read his theories has any business at all opining on current foreign policy.

Probably the most important (and under-reported) historical trend in the current decade is directly related to Boyd’s theories, and can be summed up under the category of “fourth generation warfare” . I view this trend much the same way I view the Internet’s penetration into what was once the purview of Mainstream Media. Production in the past was concentrated in the hands of a few, be that access to the accoutrements of mass media such as television networks, or access to modern weapons. As the world has gotten richer, distribution networks have become more democratized, and excess capacity brought about by globalization has increased access to many types of goods, high quality video cameras, computers and weapons included.

Senator Obama is obviously confused about what the United States Supreme Court decided and what he is calling for. After enthusiastically embracing the Supreme Court decision granting habeas in U.S. civilian courts to dangerous terrorist detainees, he is now running away from the consequences of that decision and what it would mean if Osama bin Laden were captured. Senator Obama refuses to clarify whether he believes habeas should be granted to Osama bin Laden, and instead cites the precedent of the Nuremburg war trials. Unfortunately, it is clear Senator Obama does not understand what happened at the Nuremburg trials and what procedures were followed. There was no habeas at Nuremburg and there should be no habeas for Osama bin Laden. Senator Obama cannot have it both ways. In one breath he endorses habeas for terrorists like 9/11 mastermind Khalid Sheikh Mohammed and in the next he denies its logical conclusion of habeas for Osama bin Laden. By citing a historical precedent that does not include habeas, he sends a signal of confusion and indecision to our allies and adversaries and the American people.

Let me be clear, under my administration Osama bin Laden will either be killed on the battlefield or executed. Senator Obama’s failure to comprehend the implication of the Supreme Court decision he embraced and the historical precedent of Nuremberg raise serious questions about judgment and experience and whether Senator Obama is ready to assume the awesome responsibilities of commander in chief.

Amen to that!

Warren & Grace tear it up on “Gold Dust Woman”, a sucky Fleetwood Mac song that Warren has rearranged into a very soulful, yet rocking ode.  Also of note, the keyboard player is none other than Booker T. Jones, the Stax recording artist who led Booker T & the MG’s to fame in the 60′s.

One of my favorite songs from Derek and the Dominoes. Derek Trucks channels Duane Allman and just smokes his solo, and then, as the band settles into a slightly slower, softer groove, Eric begins interweaving his lead with Derek’s, creating a splendid example of that twin-lead tapestry that Duane and Dickey Betts first perfected and popularized, and which Duane also infused into the Derek and the Dominoes recordings.   Thirty-five years plus later, Eric experiences the alternative reality he wished for when he asked Duane to join his band shortly after the Layla sessions, with the namesake of that band picking up at age 25 right about where Duane departed.  Watching the two guitar masters locked into their own form of reverie and listening to the beautiful melodic interplay in that happy major pentatonic key gives me the chills every single time I watch it, usually followed by a few of those tears of joy that oftentimes accompany the experience of artistic beauty, a connection to the Divine.
